Database schema versioning ini bukanlah teknologi baru, udah ada semenjak dulu, dan juga flyway ini juga bukanlah satu-satunya. Ada beberapa schema database versionning yang popular untuk Bahasa pemograman Java seperti:

Nah tapi di pembahasan kali ini saya mau pake yang mostly kita pake di PT. Tabeldata yaitu flyway. Selain itu juga flyway ini support banyak sekali database engine contohnya PostgreSQL, Oracle 11g or later, SQL server 2017 or later, dan masih banyak lagi.

Untuk menggunakan flyway kita bisa menginstall as standalone script atau menggunakan sebagai plugin seperti yang kita buat kali ini.

Ada beberapa fitur yang kita bisa gunakan yaitu

  1. Migrate
  2. Info
  3. Clean
  4. Undo (Paid version)
  5. Repair

Using flyway migrate

Untuk menggunakan flyway migrate kita siapkan dulu file sql, jadi setiap aplikasi bisnis pasti memiliki tabel dan data yang pre define seperti data master contohnya data master warna, data master category dan lain-lain. Nah disinilah peran database schema versioning karena dengan menggunakan versioning event kita deploy di host yang berbeda connectionnya kita tidak perlu melakukan migrasi secara manual.

Contohnya buatlah file dengan nama V2020_04_19_13_15_28__system-required.sql dalam folder src/main/resources/db/migration sebagai berikut:

kemudian kita migrasi dengan menggunakan perintah sebagai berikut:

Using flyway clean

Fitur clean adalah untuk membersihkann seluruh schema, tables, sequance, contraint yang ada atau sama seperti kita recreate database (drop then create database).

Berikut perintahnya:

mvn clean compile -Dflyway.user=bootcamp -Dflyway.password=bootcamp -Dflyway.url=jdbc:postgresql://localhost:5432/bootcamp flyway:clean

Dan ini adalah hasilnya:

Using flyway info

Fitur info digunakan untuk melakukan pengecheckan apakah versinya ada yang belum di migrasi. berikut perintahnya:

mvn clean compile -Dflyway.user=bootcamp -Dflyway.password=bootcamp -Dflyway.url=jdbc:postgresql://localhost:5432/bootcamp flyway:info

Dan berikut hasilnya:

Using flyway repair

Fitur repair digunakan untuk menghapus record yang broken di table flyway_history (tidak untuk ddl). jadi kita bisa perbaikan file schema version yang salah saja. Berikut perintahnya:

mvn clean compile -Dflyway.user=bootcamp -Dflyway.password=bootcamp -Dflyway.url=jdbc:postgresql://localhost:5432/bootcamp flyway:repair

Berikut hasilnya:

Using flyway undo

Untuk fitur undo, maaf nih saya gak bisa coba karena ini fitur berbayar jadi mungkin segitu dulu ya pembahasan tentang Database Schema versioning.
